Don't feel bad if you get into the lower divisions first. This is the mid range division and encompasses the most players. The average player will start around the Silver or Gold tier. No one wants to face a Grand Master during their first match. These divisions are designed to help players find others of equal skill, to keep things fair and fun. These consist of Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master and Grand Master. Games aren't kept track of there and you can build up your skills and confidence before diving into the pool that is ranked play. Unranked is where you want to go if your looking to learn or just have some fun. It is important to treat each match as a learning experience early on and be prepared to lose, but more on that below. Human players can be cheap, underhanded, skillful, distracting and many other things. Playing against human opponents is an entirely different experience. Obviously when you go online you are no longer playing against A.I who are predictable and follow set patterns. In order to keep things fair, Blizzard has kept the multiplayer side of the game at a more basic level then it's campaign counterpart. The reason for these changes lies in the balance of the game. There are no hero units here as they would utterly destroy the balance. The first thing to know before jumping into the multiplayer is that it plays quite differently from the campaign.
